Objective of the Project:
The primary objective is to ensure that the South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) is able to support the development of the export/trade business in South Sudan and in the East Africa Community (EAC) region through provision of prompt quality controls and conformity standards. South Sudan’s exports are currently restricted to oil, minerals and a few agricultural goods i.e. sesame, groundnuts, hibiscus, honey, gum Arabic, etc. whose value chains are being developed to enhance production levels and export capabilities.
Services Provided:
• Development of Strategic Plan: The Bureau will require technical support in developing a robust business case anchored on a futuristic Strategic Plan detailing its vision, mission and objectives. This will entails supporting the Bureau by deploying experts at Headquarters to provide hand-on guidance on the actualisation.
• Capacity Building on SQMTs: The expert team will plan, organised and conduct various capacity building trainings aimed at imparting technical skills on critical areas of the Bureau including but not limited to the utilisation of basic SQMTs equipment (micro-biology and
chemistry laboratories), conformity assessment and standards development. Support the activities of the Quality Managers at SSNBS in reviewing all documentation and technical data relating to testing in order to minimise technical non-compliances to ISO 17025 (or similar laboratory quality management standards). Support the SSNBS in their efforts to prepare for accreditation for certain test procedures to ISO 17025, including trainings as required
